Unit Sight Board

Play or replay a game, then pick any piece to see the board the way that piece sees it: what it can reach, what it attacks, what it protects, and how far everything is in its own moves. You can drag pieces, or click a piece and then a dot.

All units Every piece in its starting spot, two rows per side, so each unit keeps its place for the whole game even after it moves. Captured units fade out. A warm tint and a dot on a card mean the last move changed what that piece sees. Numbers on each card: current square, reach, attacks, defends. Click a card to select that piece.

Folded view Board shows squares at their real offsets, so a long slide is a long arm. 1 move puts every square the piece can get to on one ring: a rook going 1 square and 7 squares are both one move. Pull close keeps each direction but pulls the first unit it runs into right next to the piece; empty squares on the way shrink to beads. Knight jump targets sit on the same ring at their own angles. Sight is geometric: pins and checks are ignored, and the king's squares are shown even if attacked.
